Sources of funding

Making your company greener can deliver real financial rewards in the form of reduced energy bills or reduced wastage.

As if that wasn’t incentive enough, there are now many grants, schemes and initiatives which aim to assist business in adopting greener and environmentally friendly practices.

These include:

Interest Free Energy-Efficiency Loan

The Carbon Trust offers interest free Energy-Efficiency Loans of between £5000 and £100,000 to replace or upgrade existing equipment with a more energy efficient version. The loan is unsecured, interest free and repayable over a period of up to 4 years. No arrangement fees are charged. Terms and conditions apply.

Enhanced Capital Allowances

The Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme provides businesses with 100% first year tax relief on their qualifying capital expenditure. The scheme allows businesses to write off the cost of replacement equipment specified on the Energy Technology List against taxable profits in the year of purchase. This scheme encourages businesses to invest in energy-saving equipment which can be found on the Energy Technology List, which is managed by the Carbon Trust on behalf of Government.
