Charlotte
Charlotte says her actions have been largely behavioral to date but she plans to do more.
Where is your flat and how old is it?
In Tooting. The house was built around 1900.
What work have you had done or what lifestyle changes have you made?
I have to transport heavy equipment for my classes but I drive a small designer car which is fuel efficient and easy to park. For my other work, I take public transport and cycle in the summer. I’ve replaced my washing machine with a more energy efficient one, as well as using it at 30 degrees.
Who carried out the work?
So far my actions have been behavioural so I’ve not used experts yet. I will however need to speak to the advice centres to see if I need wall cavities filling. My flat is on the ground floor so I am not in control of the loft or other walls.
Any lessons learned and advice for other Londoners?
I believe that once you do things for a bit, they become ingrained.
What has been the impact on your life?
I’ve definitely made savings on petrol with my car, seriously reduced tax and have no congestion charge I hope to see further reductions in my heating bills as I’m avoiding putting the heating on and going for cosy rug options until it gets too cold.
Did you get a grant or any other financial assistance?
I hope to get a grant for future planned work.
