No.1 Lower Carbon Drive is based on a typical, pre-war London terrace house. Such a home can emit around six tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
Filled with fun and interactive exhibits that illustrate what you can do in your home to tackle climate change, the house is divided into six zones, covers energy, ventilation, appliances, water, recycling and insulation.
Why not check out the recycling zone again and again – discover the fun and easy way to minimise the waste you send to landfill, such as the power of worms!
Or try warming to the insulation zone – and see what types of insulation you can install in your home to slow the escape of heat and reduce your energy bills. Wrap up tight in our insulated jackets.
A solar photovoltaic exhibit gets user to try to ‘match’ the power of the sun – by turning handles to generate the same amount of power.
You can see the effects that drafts make on the temperature of a house by trying to block them – and see if you beat off the cold.
