Tanks and pipes insulation

Its important but easy to insulate your tanks and pipes

London is a world fashion centre, but it seems as if the capital’s hot water tanks are still underdressed. The must-have jackets they’re missing out on aren’t expensive and are always in style.

Fitting a British Standard jacket around your hot water cylinder will cut heat loss by over 75%.

Insulating your hot water tank is one of the simplest and easiest ways to save energy and stop you throwing away your money. An 80mm thick insulating jacket will save you £20 a year and about 150 kg of CO2. The jackets cost around £10 so they’ll have paid for themselves in six months.

Just so your hot water pipes don’t feel left out, buy them some insulation too. Pipe insulation costs around £10 and will stop you losing around £10 a year, so you’ll have recouped your money in a 12 months or so.
