The Tvonics PVR-150 (PVR stands for Personal Video Recorder) is a greener alternative to the likes of Sky Plus and Freeview boxes that record your favourite TV shows for you. It has 160GB of space, and is packed with twin Freeview tuners for watching and recording at the same time, but only uses about 25% of the energy that Sky+ etc use while doing the same thing. Cons
The PVR-150 will only record terrestrial TV; it won’t record Satellite, Cable or any other external video sources.
Energy saved
Look for the Energy Saving Trust’s Energy Saving Recommended (ESR) label when buying a set top box or TV. ESR labelled TV’s have a built in digital receiver so you don’t need any extra energy to power an additional box.
