Light up for less? What a bright idea!

The Energy Saving Light bulb is, ahem, a bright idea for everyone. Not only are they ultra compact, taking up much less space than a normal light bulb, but they also use up to 80 per cent less electricity than a standard bulb while producing the same amount of light. And with their long life (around 10 times longer than a standard bulb), they don’t need replacing for donkey’s years. So it saves energy and saves you some quids too. And don’t worry - cutting down on energy doesn’t mean having to cut down on style, there are now energy saving equivalents of most popular, stylish traditional bulbs. And with new dimmer versions now becoming available there is even better reason to not take a dim view on this important energy saving device.

Pros

Energy saving bulbs are much better for the environment and a good money saver for you too. Because it will last around 10 times longer than a standard bulb, you should pocket in the region of £60 in bulb savings before it needs replacing. If you fit all the lights in your house with energy saving bulbs, you could save in the region of a sweet £600 over the lifetime of the bulbs.
