Reason(s) for contacting Green Homes Concierge Service:

Interested in environment and sustainable development, large sparsely populated house, high energy bill.

After Jeremy’s audit, a range of improvements were suggested to his property in the Green Homes Concierge Service assessment. These included bettering the insulation around the windows, pipes and boiler.

With the use of thermal imaging, which uses different colours to show where exactly the heat emanates from, Green Homes Concierge Service demonstrated Jeremy’s uncontrolled heat loss in the key areas.

“It made it very clear to me that I was chucking money out the window,” said Jeremy. “I have since acted upon all the advice, using contractors I already had in place.”

So was Jeremy impressed? It looks like it – he declared himself a supporter of the Green Homes Concierge Service initiative, suggesting it has great potential should government ‘rigidity’ be relaxed.

Jeremy also vowed to make further suggested changes should he feel confident about them being reflected in the house-price, as they will be with the wider rollout of Home Information Packs: “I go through green processes to improve my environmental efficiency, which makes me feel good” he said. “But what incentive is there when I come to sell? Home Information Packs could make a big difference if done properly.”

Stats:

  • Jeremy was spending approximately £10,000 per year on all bills (water, gas, electric and council tax)
  • The energy efficiency measures he has carried out, as suggested by Green Homes Concierge Service, will reduce his annual bills spend by an estimated £125.85
  • His annual saving could be up to 1.5 tonnes of CO2 per year.
